Fall Activities for the Whole Family

5 of Our Favorite Family Activities

It’s the time of the year when we can pull out our sweaters and jackets for good. The air is cool, but the sun still shines brightly making this the most ideal weather for outdoor activities. We all associate Fall with apples, pumpkins, and of course foliage, and there is no better way to spend this season than with your family and friends. Here are some of our favorite ways to appreciate Fall.

  1. Hike

Hiking is a great activity for the whole family, pets included of course. You can alter your hike based on time, age, and stamina. It is an easy, free way to make sure everyone stays active when it becomes chilly. Make sure to check the weather first and dress appropriately.

  1. Apple Picking

Before leaving, confirm that the orchard is pet friendly. Your pet will love running up and down the aisles of apple trees. Apple picking is a fun – and delicious – way to stock your home with fresh apples. There is nothing better than an apple picked right off the tree!

  1. Make a pie

Pie is definitely the signature Fall dessert. The possibilities are endless: pumpkin, apple, pecan. Pair up with a family member and pretend you are a star on Food Network. This way not only will you be able to show off your competitive side, but you will get to try a bunch of seasonal pies.

  1. Host a pet holiday party

It is not often that you and all your friends can have a party with your pets! Pick a Sunday, cook a potluck dinner, and make sure all your guests bring their pet’s favorite treats. Seeing all your pets play together and enjoy dessert will make you believe they really are human!

  1. Explore a local small town

We are creatures of habit and tend to enjoy the same stores, restaurants, and areas that we are used to. Make a pact to pick a small local town that you have never been to before. Bring your pet and explore! You’ll be surprised how many places are pet friendly and how easily you fall in love with another town.

Life gets busy, but this Fall make sure you get the chance to make time to enjoy the company of your friends, family, and pets. Spend as much time outside now because soon you’ll be in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate.

5 Dog Friendly Outdoor Activities for this Summer

5 Dog Friendly Outdoor Activities for this Summer

The sun is shining, skies are blue, and summer is finally in full swing! There is officially no excuse to avoid planning an outdoor family activity (dogs included of course!). We get it, more often than not “No Dogs Allowed” make it difficult to plan a family and dog friendly activity. These five dog friendly activities will keep you and your canine busy all summer long!

   1. Hike

Most of us walk our dogs everyday, but a hike is a great way to change up the scene; plus, it’s great exercise for you and your dog! You can even challenge your dog’s listening skills by letting him or her off-leash. Dogs love running free, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so.

2. Beach

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love the beach in the summer? There is nothing quite like the ocean breeze and warm sand. We often forget that dogs are natural swimmers, hints the term “doggie paddle.” When the sun is unbearable, grab your sunscreen and dog, and head over to your local beach. Your dog (and summer tan) will love you!

3. Farmer’s Market

Grocery stores are sooo winter! This summer spend some time at your local farmer’s market. It is the perfect place to get your fruits and vegetables for the week. The local vendors often have other great treats like homemade pie, jams, and dog treats (some may even call it a culinary experience). Your dog will definitely love the scents and the chance to make new friends.

4. Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek never fails to keep us entertained! And, it will do the same to your dog. Get your kids involved and have them hide small dog treats around your backyard. Searching for treats will keep your dog occupied for longer than you think, and your kids will love watching your dog search too! We call that a win-win.

5. A Dog Park

If your dog loves socializing, a dog park is a perfect activity. Like hiking your dog will have the chance to be off-leash, and well, be a dog! It is the perfect place for you to socialize with other pet parents and maybe find the breed of your next pet. It is always fun to watch dogs interact too.

Hopefully, this list helps you decide where to spend next Saturday afternoon. So have fun, enjoy the company of your family outside, and don’t forget to get your dog a treat!
