Dog Friendly Exploding Cake

Dog Friendly Exploding Cake

It’s no secret that the Exploding Sprinkle Cake is all the rage this summer. Just because your dog cannot eat it, doesn’t mean he or she needs to miss out on the trendy cake craze. This Exploding Dog Friendly Cake will keep your dog hydrated and happy all summer long!

  • Cake pan
  • Water
  • Your dog’s favorite toys and treats
  • Chicken broth (optional)

Making this cake could not be easier, and may even get your creative juices flowing! First, gather your dog’s favorite treats. We love to use chew toys, the Kong with peanut butter, Milk Bones, and other small treats. Once you gather your treats, fill up the cake pan with water and chicken broth (optional) about two thirds of the way. Next, you throw in your dog’s favorite treats, but be careful and make sure the water doesn’t spill out of the cake pan. Finally, stick your liquid surprise-filled cake into the freezer for a few hours. The freeze time will vary based on the size of your pan.

After a few hours, your Exploding Dog Friendly Cake will be ready! Make sure to give your dog the cake outside because the last thing you want is water and treats all around your kitchen floor. This cake will keep your dog occupied for hours as he or she eagerly will be licking the cake in hopes of finding his or her favorite toy. This easy cake recipe may not be as aesthetic as the Exploding Sprinkle Cake, but we think it is the next best option!

5 Dog Friendly Outdoor Activities for this Summer

5 Dog Friendly Outdoor Activities for this Summer

The sun is shining, skies are blue, and summer is finally in full swing! There is officially no excuse to avoid planning an outdoor family activity (dogs included of course!). We get it, more often than not “No Dogs Allowed” make it difficult to plan a family and dog friendly activity. These five dog friendly activities will keep you and your canine busy all summer long!

   1. Hike

Most of us walk our dogs everyday, but a hike is a great way to change up the scene; plus, it’s great exercise for you and your dog! You can even challenge your dog’s listening skills by letting him or her off-leash. Dogs love running free, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so.

2. Beach

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love the beach in the summer? There is nothing quite like the ocean breeze and warm sand. We often forget that dogs are natural swimmers, hints the term “doggie paddle.” When the sun is unbearable, grab your sunscreen and dog, and head over to your local beach. Your dog (and summer tan) will love you!

3. Farmer’s Market

Grocery stores are sooo winter! This summer spend some time at your local farmer’s market. It is the perfect place to get your fruits and vegetables for the week. The local vendors often have other great treats like homemade pie, jams, and dog treats (some may even call it a culinary experience). Your dog will definitely love the scents and the chance to make new friends.

4. Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek never fails to keep us entertained! And, it will do the same to your dog. Get your kids involved and have them hide small dog treats around your backyard. Searching for treats will keep your dog occupied for longer than you think, and your kids will love watching your dog search too! We call that a win-win.

5. A Dog Park

If your dog loves socializing, a dog park is a perfect activity. Like hiking your dog will have the chance to be off-leash, and well, be a dog! It is the perfect place for you to socialize with other pet parents and maybe find the breed of your next pet. It is always fun to watch dogs interact too.

Hopefully, this list helps you decide where to spend next Saturday afternoon. So have fun, enjoy the company of your family outside, and don’t forget to get your dog a treat!
